Japan's Hino Motors Ltd will build a truck plant near Moscow with an investment of about 1.89 billion yen ($16.78 million).
Hino will start construction of the 2,000-trucks-a-year factory in Khimki in the spring of 2018 with production of medium-duty trucks to be launched in 2019 and that of light-duty trucks in 2020.
Hino, a unit of Toyota Motor Corp, said it has sold an accumulated total of about 12,000 units since entering the Russian market in 2008.
"The Russian market is expected to undergo rapid growth moving forward," it said, adding that the new investment aims to "strengthen our competitive edge and to establish firm roots for the Hino brand in the local community."
